BRUSSELS (AP) — European Union nations have accredited the circumstances for negotiating a brand new and strictly limited commerce cope with the United Sates, paving the best way for talks to start.
EU headquarters stated Monday that the agreement will give attention to eliminating tariffs on industrial goods only, and would not embrace agricultural products regardless of U.S. demands they be on the table.
European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker met President Donald Trump final July to go off a looming trans-Atlantic commerce conflict after Trump slapped tariffs on imports of EU steel and aluminum.
EU Commerce Commissioner Cecilia Malmstrom welcomed the agreement, saying: “We at the moment are prepared to maneuver forward into the subsequent part of EU-U.S. relations.”
Malmstrom says this is separate from a previous commerce negotiation, generally known as TTIP, which is officially “in the freezer.”
